Benjamin S. Delaney Sr. of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away on June 26, 2026, at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, N.Y. He was 63.

Benjamin proudly worked as a Chemical Dependency Counselor for over 20 years, with 17 of those years at Kolmac Integrated Behavior Health in Washington, D.C. Benjamin was also a lifelong guitarist, recently serving as Lead Guitarist for a DMV band called the Chocolate Factory Band.

The son of the late Robert Delaney and Jeanette Freeman, he was born in Middletown, N.Y., on January 28, 1963.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years Terri-Jo Delaney at home. His son Benjamin Delaney Jr of Alexandria, VA, and daughter Hannah Delaney (Steven) of Upper Marlboro, MD. His beloved grandchildren, Lana Delaney, Stevie, and Michael McIver, and his expected grandson, Josiah Delaney. He is also survived by his sisters Hannah Sparks, Elizabeth Rivers (Clarance) and brother Bishop Robert Smith (Pamela). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved their uncle deeply. He was predeceased by his daughter Elisha Delaney, his sister Emily Smith, and his brothers Lee Thomas, Ross Freeman, Floyd Freeman III, and Thomas Smith Sr.

Visitation hours will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10:30 A.M to 11 A.M with a funeral Service at 11 A.M. at the New Beginnings Church 11 Mulberry Street Middletown, N.Y.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
