Clayton "Sonny Boy" Smith of Middletown, retired employee of the County of Orange Historian's Office and a lifelong resident of the area, died on October 8, 2017. He was 85. The son of the late Raymond and Beatrice Brown Smith, he was born on June 5, 1932 in Goshen, N.Y. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. The family would like to thank Dr. Gapay, Matt's Barber Shop, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Sly, Mrs. Mona Hudson and Pam Plumley for their care and friendship. Survivors include his nieces and nephews including Patricia Smith and her children David Smith; Raymond Brighton and Tyesha Mann. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters. Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday October 25, 2017 from 12 Noon-2P.M. at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. 72 West Main St. Middletown, N.Y. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
