Elizabeth Isabel Magagnos

Our beautiful mother and grandmother, Elizabeth Isabel Magagnos, a woman of humor, hard work, sweet disposition, and unrelenting hope, passed away on Saturday, May 3 at the home where she raised 5 children, and where 14 grandchildren called home away from home.

The youngest of 14, Isabel was born in Central California to Spanish immigrants, Prudencio and Dolores Prieto. A California girl at heart, she had the ability to transport her New York family to her childhood with cherished memories of her siblings, rodeos, and her “daddy’s” garden.

By 25, she found her home in Otisville, NY, where a life of love and loss would create a family interwoven with perseverance and warmth. At 89 years old, Isabel is predeceased by her husband Gerard Magagnos and her 13 siblings. She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Elizabeth Leake (Larry), Viola Devlin (Alan), Sherman Mann (Nancy), Lola Babcock (David), and Tammy Cauchard (Richard), her 12 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren were the light of her life…especially Andrew.

Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday May 14, 2025 from 4-7 P.M. at the Martinez Morse Funeral Home 33 Railroad Ave. Middletown, N.Y.
