John L. McGar Sr. of Middletown, N.Y., a former employee of Chester Cable passed away on September 5, 2025 in Port Jervis, N.Y. He was 87.
The son of the late Llewellyn and Elsie McGar, he was born on July 5,1938 in Middletown, New York.
He was a proud member of the N.Y. National Guard.
Survivors include his sons John McGar Jr. and Michael McGar and his longtime companion Kelly Jonigan. His former wife Dorothy McGar Kardys and his brother David McGar. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jaime McGar, Brittany Pasquinelli, Katharine Jonigan-McGar and Liam Jonigan-McGar and his great-grandchildren and his nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter Kim L. McGar Durland. His three sisters Evelyn Paduch, Lillian Avery and Barbara McCorvey and his grandchildren Jacqueline and Evan.
A Graveside service will be held on Saturday September 13, 2025 at 10 A.M. at the Bloomingburg Cemetery 845 Bloomingburg Road Bloomingburg, N.Y.
