It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Leisa Jean-Baptiste, she was 14 years old. She passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, after a courageous long battle with Leukemia at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital surrounded by her family and friend.
Leisa was born in Middletown, New York, on February 15, 2011. She was the beloved daughter of Marie Clarice Laurent and the late Elijah Jean-Baptiste. Leisa was a ninth-grade student at Pine Bush High School.
Leisa brought light, laughter, and love to everyone who knew her. She had a kind heart, a beautiful smile, and a spirit that touched lives in ways words cannot fully express. She excelled in school and loved helping others. Leisa tutored younger students after school and volunteered at animal shelters. She was also a member of the Circleville Middle School band, where she sang and played the clarinet. She was also, a part of the Lacross team. She especially loved dancing; she was full of life. She dreamed to return to school and to become a businesswoman.
Leisa shared a deep love for her family. She loved her sister Taishah (Taya) dearly who she always looked out for, and she had a close relationship with her grandmother who she called Timajorie .
Leisa is deeply loved and will be forever cherished by her mother, Marie Clarice Laurent; her stepdad Louis Jean- Villot; her sister, Taishah; her brother Stevenson; her grandmother, Lucia Lafleur, her great-grandmother, Celita Laurent; her uncles Patrick, Smith, Michelin, Sony, and Frantz; her aunt Francise; and her cousins Marcus, Sammy, Kava, and Sara, along with many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Though her time with us was far too short, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
