At the age of 76, after a long battle with Alzheimer's, Maria "Cachi" Rivera was called home to God on Tuesday, November 1st, surrounded by her loving family. Maria was born on January 7th 1946 in Maunabo, Puerto Rico, lived in Middletown, NY for over 30 years, and spent her last few years in Oxnard, California. She was predeceased by her father Concepcion "Conso" Acosta, her mother Bibiana Rivera-Laboy, and her infant brother Benjamin.
Maria was a devoted Christian and loved Jesus. She lived for her family and showed the love of Christ by helping many throughout the years by accompanying, sometimes strangers, to their appointments and opened the doors of her home to those needing a meal or a place to rest their heads. Maria was the absolute best daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend any person could ask for.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years - Felipe "Pipe" Rivera, her four caring children and their spouses: Felipe Jr & Shannon, Gamaliel & Sandra, Brenda & Marcelo, and Vivian & Jose; her nine grandchildren and their families: Giselle & Reynaldo, Melissa & Jay, Zuleika & Lionel, Jose, Erica & Diego, Robbie, Nicole & Jon, Jazmin & Mark, and Alex & Abby; as well as seven great grandchildren: Alyana, Giuliana, Arabelle, Jose Jr, Jay Jr, Ezekiel, & Kai. She also leaves behind 9 siblings, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her loving family, she also had many friends and was well-loved within her community.
Maria touched so many people with her selfless generosity and will forever be missed. The legacy she leaves behind is one of faith, love, courage, loyalty, kindness, laughter, and integrity that we will all cherish. Hasta pronto Cachi!
