Celebrating the Life of Mollie Mae Helms

On September 14, 1944, the late Earnest James Allen and Claudie Mae Allen received a gift in the form of a girl child, whom they named Mollie Mae Allen. She came of age while living a simplistic life in rural Georgia. Along with her parents and siblings, she attended Midway Baptist Church in Fort Gaines, where her spiritual foundation took root, and seeds of faith germinated into an unshakable conviction.

After losing both parents at a young age, Mollie traveled to Newark, New Jersey, where she met and married Lynn Anderson Helms Jr, then relocated to Middletown, NY shortly thereafter. Their 60-year union resulted in five children: Alphonso Maurice Helms, Lynn Anderson Helms III, Jason Andrew Stephens, Cynthia Renae Helms (Knight), and Daryl Bernard Helms. Throughout the years, Mollie served her community in various ways, most notably at St. Theresa’s Nursing Home, first as an aide and then as a unit clerk. Her unmatched work ethic and professionalism resulted in countless awards, certificates, and accolades. After 40 years of tireless service, she retired but did not stop. Her service continued at the Abundant Love Apostolic Church located in New Rochelle, NY. She served her church with unwavering dedication, overseeing building fund programs and helping to lay the foundation as a founding member. Widely regarded as a pillar of the congregation, she forged a particularly close relationship with the First Lady, Sarah Brown, and family.

Our beloved mother, friend, and confidant completed her transition on November 22, 2025. Preceding her in death are her brothers (Earnest James Allen, III and Willie James Allen), mother-in-law (Betty Helms), sisters-in-law (Ruth Pilson, Shirley Fuller, and Diane Ming), and brother-in-law (Joe Lewis Helms).

Along with her devoted husband and children, her spirit lives on through her grandchildren (Tatiana Helms, Taijah Helms, Alexandra Helms, DeJoire Stephens, Jason Andrew Stephens Jr, Leah Stephens, Savannah Stephens, and Jameelah Muhammad), great-grandchildren (Kyrie Bonneau, Saint Minetee-Stephens, and Arlianna Grosso), son-in-law (Charles Knight), daughters-in-law (Edna Helms and Jessica Stephens) sisters-in-law (Loretta Audel, Betty Lyvonne Gordon, Rhona Long, Jean Carolyn McGee, and Carol Ann Richards), brothers-in-law (Jose Audel, Alfred Gordon, and Marvin Long), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and loving friends

The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Monday December 1, 2025 at 12 Noon at the following link:
