Randy A. Decker of Slate Hill, N.Y., passed away on June 30, 2026, at home with family and dog Ellie by his side following a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. He was 66.
Randy was the son of the late Donald C. and Patricia A. Decker. He was born on March 8, 1960, in Middletown, New York, growing up in Slate Hill. A graduate of Minisink Valley High School, he went on to work in plumbing/construction before becoming a Corrections Officer for the NYSDOC. Following retirement from Wallkill Correctional Facility, Randy worked various jobs in the area, becoming a familiar face at Perino’s Market, Soon’s Orchard, and of course at The Cat’s Cradle. He had a never-ending love for old tv, bad puns, and corny dad jokes (What did the snail say while riding on the turtles’ back? …. WEEEEEE!)
Randy is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; his two daughters, Melissa Wixon (Samuel Jr.) and Jessica Decker-Beaton (Evan); and his cherished grandchildren, Samuel Wixon III, Lillian Wixon, and Gabriel Cordero-Beaton. He is also survived by his two great-granddaughters, Autumn and Violet. Randy was predeceased by his sisters, Cindy Decker and Dale Decker.
At Randys request, a celebration of life will be held in the future in lieu of funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, Randy requested donations be sent to Middletown Humane Society.
