Rene Smith of Middletown, N.Y. a longtime resident of the area and a former contractor in the Orange County area, passed away on September 18, 2026 at his home. He was 69.
The son of the late Rupert Smith and Marcelle Whiteman, he was born on March 1, 1957 in Trinidad.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his children Renault “Chris” Smith Jr., Antwon Smith, Henry Brinson and Jay Smith. His sisters Denise Pilgrim and Deborah Subhaw and his brothers Andrew Whiteman and Anthony Whiteman. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours will be held on Saturday September 26, 2026 from 2-4 P.M. at the Martinez Morse Funeral Home 33 Railroad Avenue Middletown, N.Y.
