Robert S Hulse , age 82, passed into eternal life on November 2 , 2024. He was born on March 25,1942, the son of the late Robert A. and Isabel (Klingman) Hulse in Middletown N.Y. After attending Middletown public school system, he graduated from St Albert’s Preparatory Seminary, Middletown, in 1960.

 In July, 1961, he entered the Religious Community in Williamstown, MA. He was ordained a priest at St. Albert’s, in June 1968. He earned his bachelor’s degree from The Catholic University of America and a master’s from Creighton University. Among the ministries in which he served were: high school teacher, retreat director, Director of Formation and Director of Development. Bob also served as Chief of Staff for then Assemblywoman Mary McPhillips in her Albany office. In 1978, he was named New York State’s first coordinator for the Commission on Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention/Education.

In 1988 he joined the Board of Directors of the National Development and Research Institutes (NDRI,Inc.) in New York City. In 1996 he became the Director of Administration for NDRI. He played a pivotal role in the recovery of NDRI, following the destruction of its offices at the World Trade Center on 9/11.

 Bob retired in 2014. He had a life-long love of history, especially Native American. Besides researching family history, he spent time building up the library at Chief Dull Knife College, the tribal college of the Northern Cheyenne Reservation, located in southeastern Montana.

He is survived by his loving sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Gerry Burke of Poughkeepsie, niece Megan (Thomas) Barnes of Oradell, NJ, nephews Brian (Jessica) Burke of Slingerlands, NY and Gregory (Sarah) Burke of Cumming, GA. He is also survived by the “lights” of his life, his grand nephews and nieces, Julia, Finn, Kevin, Eva and William plus numerous cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on November 22, 2024, at 12:30 P.M. at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel 70 Carmelite Dr. Middletown, N.Y. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family at the Holy Name Cemetery Otisville, N.Y.
