SARA SIMAS. June 28,1944- November 28, 2025

Sara Simas passed away peacefully in November after a long illness. She was predeceased by her parents and brother and is survived by many friends and acquaintances. Sara was a brilliant woman who was a historian, singer, actress, and visual artist . She was born and lived her life in Goshen and Middletown. She graduated from Goshen Central High School and went to SUNYA Fredonia with a degree in history and music(voice). She had a diverse employment history teaching homebound students for the Middletown School District, teaching voice and piano privately, working as an aide and caregiver in home care, writing grants, and doing research for Washington Headquarters. She worked for adult literacy until they cut funding. She sang with the Middletown Concert Chorale, Warwick Classic Choral Society, and local opera companies. She acted character roles with the New Country Theatre and other theatre companies. She was in a revival of SAVE ME A PLACE AT FOREST LAWN in libraries and Craigsmoor Playhouse to much critical acclaim. She was an avid reader of mysteries and histories and loved to cook. She was a perfectionist and had a very disciplined approach to both her work and hobbies. Consequently she was brutally honest but it was infused with her great sense of humor. A celebration of her life will be held at Tranquilitea at 12 North Street in Middletown, N.Y. on April 9, 2026 at 11 am.
