Sterling Crane passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024 from long term ailments. Sterling enjoyed learning in many forms and actively pursued knowledge and activities he enjoyed. After retiring from A long career at Frontier communications, he attended culinary classes as well as obtaining a bachelor’s degree in psychology. During his lifetime he enjoyed traveling, racing and working on cars, playing the guitar, reading voraciously and riding his horse Clovis. He was compassionate for animals and children, raising Great Danes & caring for or adopting animals in many situations in his lifetime. He also was a member of the Orange County Task Force Against Child Abuse. Sterling had a unique and sometimes dry sense of humor and enjoyed looking at the irony of life and people. He could be fun to laugh with and his unique sense of humor and wit, amongst other things, will be missed.
He lived a life of his choosing.
Left to mourn his passing are his fiancé and longtime partner, Margaret Conroy, His first wife, Francine Alston, and their two children, Robert L. Crane & Amy M. Rhoderick (& husband Raymond Jr.), his beloved only grandson Raymond D. Rhoderick III, his sister Yvonne Korotky-Clayton (& husband James) as well as multiple nieces and nephews that he loved very much.
He is predeceased by his parents, Faye Lounsbury Crane & Paul Wheeler Crane, his aunt, Janet Wheeler Ralston and his grandmother Blanche Lounsbury who he was very close with & who taught him his love for birds & bird watching.
